Used by Woodland Indians, the Dream Catcher was hung in the lodge near the bedroom window. Its use was to catch all dreams, good or bad. The bad dreams would get trapped in the webbing and held until first morning light when they would be burned off. Knowing their way to the center, as the good dreams were caught they would filter down into the feathers and be held there, only to return another night and be dreamed again.
